All About PTE Exam As Per 2025 Guidelines

PTE Academic Introduction:                                                                  

PTE Academic is a 2 hour, computer-based and human-evaluated assessment of an individual’s English proficiency in an academic context. The PTE Academic Test is basically used for those learners who want to study abroad. This test evaluates an individual’s skills by covering reading, writing, listening, and speaking module. 

What is the test duration of the PTE Exam?

The PTE exam takes up to 2 hours, the test duration is divided according to sections:

          Speaking & Writing [Part 1]:                 55-67 minutes
                 Reading [Part 2]                 28-30 minutes
                 Listening [Part 3]:                 30-40 minutes

When will I get the PTE test results?

The PTE results are generally available on mypte within 2 to 5 business days, as the team of Pearson does not response on weekends.

Usually, you may get your results within 48 hours. However, if there is a delay in receiving your results, contact customer care service or you may contact Kaplan team to assist you.

What if I forgot my login details of PTE?

No worries, if you’ve forgotten your login details for MyPTE, you can use your PTE ID mentioned on your previous score report.

Easy steps to recover PTE login details:

First, go to the PTE login page.

Then, look for the “Forgot Password” or “Reset Password” option.

Enter your requested information (like PTE ID or Email address)

If you are still unable to recover your details just let us know and our Kaplan team will help you.

Can we compare our PTE scores in IELTS band scores?

Yes, according to Pearson’s score guide you can compare your PTE scores with IELTS band scores or TOEFL to get a rough idea of where you stand, but the tests pattern are totally different, not only that the universities may evaluate the scores differently based on its own requirements for PTE, IELTS, TOEFL scores. So, it’s still important to check the specific requirements of the university where you will be aiming to apply.

  • FIRST UNDERSTAND THE TEST FORMAT OF PTE EXAM

In every field, a basic understanding is must, same as in PTE. Knowing the appropriate structure is essential for effective preparation of the test.

Test Structure: The PTE is divided into 3 parts: Speaking & Writing, Reading, and Listening. Each module contains different question types to check skills of the test taker.

  • SUFFICIENT PRACTICE: 

Continuous studying for a long hours is not fruitful in PTE exam. Here, you have to do smart work over hard work. By working on main question types instead of spending too much time on 1 mark questions like MCQs or ASQs.

  • PREPARATION STRATEGY:

Work on your weak areas as much as you can especially for those question types which gives dual marking like Read Aloud, Repeat Sentences and many more.

  • CREATE A SCHEDULE

  1. Study for at least  3-4 hours a day. If you want to take the exam sooner.
  2. Focus more on your weak areas and improve them.
  3. Once you feel familiar with all the question types, take a full mock test to see where you stand.
  4. After the mock test, work on the areas where you’re still weak.
  5. When you consistently scored higher in your 4 to 5 mock tests, then you are ready to book your PTE Exam.

Is PTE easier than the IELTS test?

Yes, PTE is easier than IELTS. If you are searching for the faster and fair test which one is easy and quick, then you are good to go for the PTE test. Let me explain you why with the help of these points:

TEST FORMAT:

PTE: This test is fully computerized, you’ll speak into a microphone, and your recorded response will be scored by AI. Many of the students find this pattern less stressful because of no human interaction and chances to get higher scores.

IELTS: Whereas, this test involves face-to-face Speaking by an IDP expert. IELTS speaking is just like an interview thatswhy some may find it difficult.

PTE: Because of Artificial Intelligence in PTE scoring, there is less chance of human biasness. 

IELTS: In IELTS, Speaking and Writing will be marked by human evaluators, whereas the Reading and Listening scores will be given by AI Engines

FLEXIBILITY:

PTE: Academic is a 2 hour test with no breaks. Moreover, you can choose the date according to your availability even on Sunday as well.

IELTS: When you’ll book the specific date for your IELTS test on that you’ll go for LRW, but on the another date whether it is earlier or after LRW, the Speaking will be given by IDP.

RESULT AVAILABILITY:

PTE: In PTE test results are generally available within 48 hours. However, the maximum available time period is between 2-5 working days.

IELTS: In IELTS examination the results are typically available 13th day after the test date. So, there’s a longer waiting period.

Are both American and British languages accepted in the PTE test?

Yes, both American and British English languages are accepted in the PTE (Pearson Test of English) exam. Whether you use American or British language, this will not affect your scores.

What is the validity period of the PTE test report?

The PTE Academic test scores are valid for 2 years from the test date. Furthermore, PTE test report will not be extended or renewed as per Pearson’s guidelines. Suppose, if your test report is expired then you are not eligible to enrol in any foreign university. And, the solution is to schedule the new test date for PTE Exam.
